Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 26, 2026
Chemology ("we", "us", "our") runs the website https://chemology.edgeone.dev — an educational study platform for 9th-grade chemistry. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and the choices you have. By using the site you agree to this policy.
1Who we are
The site is operated by the Chemology team. You can reach us at any time at thefalconytt@gmail.com.
2Information we collect
- Account information. The username (display name) and password you choose. Passwords are never stored in plain text — only as a salted, iterated cryptographic hash.
- Google sign-in. If you choose "Sign in with Google", Google shares with us, through Firebase Authentication, your name, email address, profile picture and a unique Google account ID. We request only these basic profile permissions (openid, email, profile). We never see your Google password, and we do not request access to Gmail, Drive, Contacts, Calendar or any other Google service.
- Study data. Your learning progress and settings: highest streak, number of answers, accuracy, exams completed, game scores, the elements and groups you find difficult, whether you finished the tutorial, and your language, theme and sound preferences.
- Technical data. Our hosting provider and Google may automatically process your IP address, browser and device type and standard server logs in order to deliver and secure the service.
- Data on your device. The site stores your session, account data and preferences in your browser's local storage so you stay signed in and the site remembers your choices. It is not used for advertising or tracking.
3How we use your information
- To create and secure your account and keep you signed in.
- To save your progress and sync it across your devices.
- To personalise your dashboard (for example, showing the items you need to practise).
- To operate, maintain, troubleshoot, secure and improve the site, and to prevent abuse and fraud.
- To send service-related notices when necessary (for example, security or policy changes). We do not send marketing emails.
- To use aggregated or anonymised statistics that do not identify you, to understand and improve the learning content.
- To comply with the law and to protect our rights, users and the public.
We do not sell or rent your personal information, we do not show advertising, and we do not use your data for profiling or targeted advertising.
4Google user data (Limited Use)
What we access: your name, email address, profile picture and Google account ID, only when you choose to sign in with Google.
How we use it: only to create and identify your account, show your name inside the app and restore your progress on a new device. We do not use it for advertising, and we do not sell it.
How it is stored: your Google profile is held by Firebase Authentication (Google Cloud). Our own database stores your display name, your Firebase user ID and your study progress. We do not copy your email address or picture into our database.
Who it is shared with: nobody, except the service providers that run the site for us (see "Sharing") or where the law requires it. No humans read your Google data except where needed for security, to comply with the law, or with your consent.
Chemology's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
You can withdraw Chemology's access at any time at https://myaccount.google.com/permissions and ask us to delete your data (see "Retention and deletion").
5How we share information
We share information only in these limited cases:
- Service providers that process data on our behalf: Google Firebase / Google Cloud (authentication and database) and our website hosting provider. They may use the data only to provide their services to us.
- Legal reasons: if required by law, court order or a valid request from a public authority, or to protect the rights, safety and security of our users, the public or Chemology.
- Business changes: if the project is transferred to another owner, your data may be transferred too, and this policy will continue to apply until you are told otherwise.
- With your consent, when you ask us to.
6Storage, security and international transfers
Our service providers operate servers in several countries, which may be outside Egypt, including the United States. Data is encrypted in transit and Firebase encrypts stored data. We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, but no online service can be guaranteed 100% secure.
You are responsible for choosing a strong password you do not use elsewhere and for signing out on shared or public devices.
7Retention and deletion
We keep your information while your account is active and for as long as needed to provide the service. Accounts that stay inactive for 24 months may be deleted automatically.
To delete your account and the data linked to it, email thefalconytt@gmail.com from the address used for your account (or tell us your username) and we will process the request within 30 days. You can also clear the data saved on your device by clearing the site's data in your browser. Some information may be kept longer where the law requires it or to resolve disputes and prevent abuse.
8Your rights
Depending on where you live, and under applicable data-protection laws (including Egypt's Personal Data Protection Law No. 151 of 2020 and, where applicable, the GDPR), you may have the right to access your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its processing, withdraw consent, and complain to the competent data-protection authority. To exercise any of these rights, email thefalconytt@gmail.com. We may need to verify your identity first.
9Children and students
Chemology is designed for school students. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account, and if you are under 18 you should use the site with the knowledge and permission of a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13; if we learn that we have, we will delete it. Parents and guardians can contact us at thefalconytt@gmail.com to review or delete their child's data.
10Cookies and local storage
We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. The site uses your browser's local storage (and, for Google sign-in, Firebase's own browser storage) to keep you signed in and remember your preferences. You can clear this at any time in your browser settings, but you may then need to sign in again.
11Third-party services
Google sign-in and Firebase are provided by Google, and their processing of your data is also governed by the Google Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third parties.
12Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above shows the current version. If we make important changes we will post a notice on the site. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
